报告人简介:
Prof. Chen started his academic career as a University Teacher in 1982 at Zhejiang University (China). After obtaining his M. Sc. at Inst. of Applied Math of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ph.D. at Erasmus University (The Netherlands), he joined the faculty of University of Warwick (UK) in 1994 as Lecturer, then Senior Lecturer, and now Reader within Warwick Business School. He is also Affiliate of the Centre for Scientific Computing.
Prof. Chen is now the associate editor/member of editorial board of Journal of Combinatorial Optimization, International Journal of Systems Science International Journal of Automation and Computing, International Journal of Operational Research.
Prof. Chen';s current research interests include Scheduling theory and applications, Real-time optimization, Combinatorial optimization, and Decision analysis.
报告摘要:
Worldwide attention on antiterrorism may presage renewed interest and activity in the area of emergency response. Serious disruptions in social and economic activities of both public and private sectors are caused by large-scale emergency incidents, such as acts of terrorism, natural disasters, and human-caused accidents. As disruption is becoming a norm rather than an exception, research on
disruption recovery and strategic maintenance of social and economic activities against unforeseen disturbances has increased rapidly in recent years. However, currently there is an apparent lack of systematic approach in such research, which is separated with different names under different problem settings, although they are closely related.
In this talk, I’ll present a comparison of strengths and weaknesses of various existing approaches to decision making for systems that are subject to disruption. This is a first step of our effort to establish a unified approach of applying powerful analytic tools to high-level and long-term planning issues.
